Carers in Southampton

Who we are:
Carers in Southampton is a new service for anyone who gives up their time, to look after a family member, a friend, or a neighbour who needs
additional support.

Mission Statement:
Empower the ‘Silent Army’ of carers in Southampton by providing support, advice, guidance and learning opportunities to improve carers’ choice, control and independence.

Aims:
Bring together central, strong support for carers in the City through a network of existing services and agencies.
·         Provide a free service which is flexible, respectful, and offer confidential advice, guidance and direction to carers.
·         Identify the needs of carers living in Southampton.
·         Identify ‘hidden’ carers who do not currently use services for themselves or the person they care for.
·         Help carers to look after their own health and wellbeing first which encourages them to have a life of their own alongside their caring role.
It is all about:·
Helping carers get in touch with the support and services they need.
·         Enabling carers to get together.
·         Enabling carers to access learning opportunities.
·         Keeping carers informed about relevant local events.
·         Letting carers know what their rights and entitlements are.
·         Enabling carers to have their say.
