SCORES of people celebrated the fifth anniversary of a Southampton community centre re-opening.
More than 60 people gathered at Freemantle Community Centre in Randolph Street to mark the occasion which saw various groups who use the centre mark the occasion in style.
Guests at the event included Southampton Test MP Alan Whitehead and Mayor of Southampton Sue Blatchford. They were entertained by an Irish dancing band and singing groups.
A spokesperson for Freemantle Community Centre, said: “It was a great day and people had a good time and it went down well with the mayor who stayed right till the end.”
Freemantle Community Centre reopened in 2009 after a £1m refit to bring the building and facilities up to date and to work in partnership with Southampton Day Service.

TODAY JUNE 4th
PDSA free pet health checks
PDSA’s mission is to care for pets of people in need by providing free
veterinary services to their sick and injured animals and promoting
responsible pet ownership. As part of this mission, in 2002, PetCheck
was launched in direct response to concern about growing obesity
and dental diseases in pets.

Through our special mobile PetCheck units, the onboard veterinary nurse provides FREE well being to dogs (dogs only for health and safety reasons), and offers advice on the care of other popular pets. The veterinary nurse will go through all of the five welfare needs of the pet with the owner as defined by the Animal Welfare Act 2006. This includes health requirements, behaviour, companionship and socialisation.
Freemantle Community Centre on Wednesday 4th June
10am to 5pm
